Sreejith, Inspector-General of Police, who accompanied Rehana Fathima and Kavitha, has on Monday visited Sannidhanam and prayed before Lord Ayyappa with tearful eyes. He visited early morning and broke down before Lord Ayyappa.
“Tears were rolling down his cheeks when he stood before the Lord. His body language clearly shows that he is deeply pained by the turn of events. We knew that he was a devout person. He was forced to do this unpardonable act because of the pressure mounted on him by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and IG Manoj Abraham. When devotees protested Sreejith had told them that he was a police officer and was duty-bound to implement the Supreme Court order. But he had assured them that he won’t do anything that would hurt the sentiments of devotees,” said Prithvipal of Sabarimala Achara Samrakshana Samiti.
The police led by Manoj Abraham had launched an unprovoked attack on devotees. “They have picked up trainees and supporters of SDPI-Popular Front for crushing devotees’ peaceful protest. These policemen destroyed vehicles of devotees and used savage force on them. The cops stole helmets and other belongings of devotees. The role of certain mediapersons also is suspect. It has come to our notice that some TV journalists threw shoes at police to provoke them. They wanted good visuals and sensational news. They called devotees goons,” said Privthvipal.
