A group of Lord Ayyappa devotees staged a protest and stopped Kerala State Road Transport Corporation buses at Kanyakumari for allegedly insulting Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan by controversial Superintendent of Police Yatish Chandra in Nilakkal near Sabarimala on Wednesday.
The devotees numbering about 100 chanted Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa and blocked the buses heading for Thiruvananthapuram at Kanyakumari bus station. They demanded the suspension of the controversial cop who is notorious for strong arm tactics. Chandra also faces criminal cases against him.
“Pon Radhakrishnan is our ‘Gold’. He is a gem of a person. Although he is a Union Minister he addresses the young policeman ‘Sir’. But the rogue police officer insults him. How dare he talks to a Union minister like this. This is an insult to Tamil people. If he is not suspended we will not allow any Kerala vehicle to ply,” said Palanisami, a resident of Kanyakumari.
