The Removing, Reducing and Informing Policy in Instagram is Active Now!

The Instagram app will now have Facebook’s policy applied to itself. This is going to be all about removing, reducing and informing about inappropriate posts. Facebook is already following the policy and banning the spread of bad content.

First thing that will change is that you can flag inappropriate posts. It will lead to that post being barred from appearing. This will eventually limit the spread of the post and confine its reach to a handful of people.

‘We have begun reducing the spread of posts that are inappropriate but do not go against Instagram’s Community Guidelines, limiting those types of posts from being recommended on our Explore and hashtag pages,’ said the Instagram announcement by Facebook.
The social media platform Facebook already cites the low-quality content and keeps a keen eye on anything that can be deemed as spammy, sexually suggestive or downright violent and aggressive.

How differently will Instagram work now?

The statement that was released by Facebook related to the Instagram announcement. It mentioned, ‘For example, a sexually suggestive post will still appear in Feed if you follow the account that posts it, but this type of content may not appear for the broader community in Explore or hashtag pages.’

With this, the company is trying to stop incidents of harassment, the spread of fake news. Even clickbait ads that lead to some unsolicited website will be demoted. A team of content moderators and AI will be set up to limit and remove inappropriate content on Instagram. Together, they will work to combat the violent and fake content along with the posts which are not suited for this platform.

An outline of the changes to come on this platform has already been provided by Instagram. A help page has been set up on Instagram website that mentions the use of a variety of signals that will decide if the content is appropriate or not.
