Even as India celebrates its 72nd Independence Day, differently abled children from the Khushboo Welfare Soceity school enthralled everyone by their spectacular dance. A total of 47 differently abled children gave a splendid performance that brought tears to the eyes of the spectators.
Independence Day, one of the three national holidays in India is observed in all the states and union territories commemorating India’s independence from British rule on 15 August 1947. Flag hoisting ceremony at Khushboo Welfare Soceity was very impressive with a differently abled boy on his wheel chair pulling the strings for the flag to unfurl along with the President Rakesh Jhinsi and Vinod Pande saluting it. During the cultural program, 9 children performed doing hand movements with flags whilst sitting in their wheel chairs arranged on two sides while the remaining students danced in the middle to the tune of good number of patriotic songs.
Khushboo Welfare Society is a Non Profit Organization working for the wellbeing of children, adolescent and adults with Mental & Multiple disabilities for the last 23 years. It provides educational, therapeutic and rehabilitation services through individualized attention for overall development of individuals with disabilities.
National flags of different sizes were used abundantly by the rejoicing students. The mixture of popular culture with nationalism was exemplified by outfits dyed with the tricolor and designer garments that had pictures of our freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi and Rani Laxmi Bhai stuck on their clothes.
According to the President, Khushbu Welfare Soceity, “For the last 15 days, the kids were busy in the preparations for the Independence Day celebrations. They were very interested in practicing and some of them also came up with their own ideas too. They were enthusiastic throughout the month and look forward for their dance teacher to teach them dance steps. This only reflects the passion they carried and even displays their communication and collaboration skills. ”
