In the Bhagwatam, we see Kamsa hating Sri Krishna so much, that his entire consciousness is consumed with this hatred. So much hatred only leads to self-destruction, primarily because the mind then cannot visualise anything other than negativity. We see this cycle of hatred and self-destruction repeated several times in the Mahabharata – through Rukmi (the only King who did not participate in the Mahabharata war since he was rejected by both sides), Shishupal (whom Sri Krishna finally kills), Duryodhana, Ashwathama (Drona’s son), Shakuni and more. Every single one of these valiant people were destroyed because they allowed their hatred become more powerful than the good they were capable of.
In modern times, we have seen this being repeated in governments of various countries. The biggest example would be of Germany under Adolf Hitler. He hated the Jews so much that he allowed his capabilities to be (mis)directed towards destruction of the Jews, instead of development of his own country. Japan too, under Emperor Hirohito (Showa) almost destroyed his Nation because of his hatred towards other Asian races like the Chinese and Koreans. Palestinians have faced innumerable difficulties because of their hatred of Israel. The terrorist organizations which have from time to time covertly controlled many of the Arab Nations, have been responsible for their own self-destruction. One only has to take a look at Syria before and after ISIS to know what I’m referring to.
Closer home, we have a neighbour – Pakistan, which has allowed its hatred of Bharat to consume itself so much, that the country which was doing better than Bharat during the first 10 years of its Independence is now reduced to the status of a beggar. Today they are attacked by other countries in their own territory and they do not even know about it, till they are informed about it by News Agencies. By allowing their capabilities to be diverted to hatred, they ended up becoming among the most hated country themselves.
At home, we have the Kashmiri secessionists who have allowed hatred for Bharat to be their primary source of Income. How can they ever have even a day of prosperity when the foundation is blood and hatred? The writing is on the wall for these secessionists & soon they will only face self-destruction. Congress Party, which in its hatred for the BJP and more so, PM Modi, has ended up teaming with the entire Opposition in Bharat, with only one aim – Defeat PM Modi and BJP. How can any political party achieve success with this much hatred? Every cell of their being is so much consumed with hatred that now it has spread to destroying our country in order to feed that Hatred. History always repeats itself & the day is not far when all these Opposition parties will face self-destruction since they could not see beyond the flames of hatred.
Our media houses which work very hard to bring about the anti-Hindu perception are also moving in the same direction. They are now facing backlash from the masses and many names which were once part of the Hall of Fame, are now completely disrespected and discarded. Recently, the Karni Sena which got its two minutes of Respect for its stand of protection of Rajput valour and ‘Maryaada’, is now being criticized because they allowed their fight to become one of hatred and violence. Though Hindus did not like Rajput Pride being misrepresented, they also did not like the cycle of violence and hatred that the Karni Sena spread and the way they attacked small children. Such a show of hatred never succeeds!
How about religions which spread hatred? Any religion which aims to grow by spreading hatred for those who do not profess that religion, can only terrorise to an extent. After that, they will be ground to dust – just like the flames can sustain only for some time, after which, the wood only becomes ashes with no power to burn anymore. The religion which covertly spreads hatred wearing the cloak of ‘love’, will also have to face the same fate – just like the burning embers which do not show any flames, also become ashes in the end.
When creative artists try to stoke the flames of hatred through their work, be it paintings, films, film titles, books or written articles, speeches or otherwise, they need to remember all of the above examples. They may get their 2 minutes of fame and/or notoriety but they will never be remembered with love and respect by the future generations. In fact in their search for fame through inciting the people, they will be forgotten for all their other work other than their negative portrayal. Today when M F Hussain’s name is taken, how many people remember his work other than the naked portrayal of Saraswati and other Hindu Goddesses? Can anyone today make a life on how Hitler was a good man in his personal life and that he was misunderstood? NO. It would be construed as whitewashing the sins of an evil man. Similarly when Bajirao Peshwa is shown as a lovelorn Devdas; when opium addict and torturer of Rana Pratap, Akbar is wrongly shown as a soft-hearted, loving and patient husband who treated Hindus with respect; when mass-murderer Khilji is shown repenting for his lust; such work of ‘art’ should be treated with disdain and criticism. That the media and public choose to look for aesthetic values and magnum portrayal of erstwhile riches/lifestyles, is an aberration which should be avoided. When the narrative is that of subtle showdown of a particular Community (Religion) and subtle praise of another, it should be treated more as a work of Hatred of traditions and culture and thus should be shunned by the present generation and posterity.
