Devotees of Mata Amruthanandamayi Amma celebrated the 65th birthday on September 27 by launching several welfare projects for the victims of the recent devastating floods in the state. Rs 1 lakh each was awarded to the dependants of 10 balidanis who sacrificed their lives during their efforts to save flood victims. Amma felicitated the dynamic volunteers who worked round-the-clock under Amrutha Help Line to save the flood-hit people from killer currents. Amma distributed certificates to about 400 university students and staff for their sincere efforts to provide rescue and relief for the victims. Amma felicitated the fishermen brothers who went from Alappatt area for rescue operations.
Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekhkaran, Leader of Opposition in Kerala assembly Ramesh Chennithala, SNDP general secretary Vellappalli Nateshan and prominent leaders of Congress and Kerala Congress felicitated Amma during the occasion.
