The CPI(M) has unleashed a reign of terror in Kerala. After unleashing atrocities on Hindu devotees of Lord Ayyappa in Sabarimala — false cases were filed against more than 10,000 men, women and children — they started targeting their political rivals. On February 15, two Youth Congress workers — Sharath Lal (24) and Kripesh (22) — were hacked to death in Periya, Kasargod.
Talking to a TV channel programme, Sharath Lal’s father said the Marxist savages after chopping the bodies of the youth to pieces celebrated their success by bursting firecrackers. They also shouted slogans like “inquilab Zindabad, CPM Zindabad”. “They had arranged two groups and placed them in two separate places so that even if our kids run away, they could finish them. They had brought men from Kannur to execute the premeditated murders. CPI(M) has given Local Party Secretary Peethambaran to the police. But party higher-ups were involved. When the police impounded a vehicle used by the culprits, the local MLA Kunjiraman put pressure on the police to release the vehicle. The local police is trying to protect the culprits.”
The father of Kripesh also said they don’t trust the Kerala Police and wanted CBI probe. According to them, only a CBI probe will reveal the larger conspiracy in the case. Meanwhile, sources said the culprits after committing the crime had telephonic conversations with the local MLA and senior CPI(M) leaders. Peethambaran, who has surrendered and accepted the crime, said he did it on his own out of the personal rivalry. However, Peethambaran’s wife and daughter dismissed this version. According to his wife, Peethambaran can’t commit this kind of a crime alone. “If at all he is involved, he must have heeded the party’s orders. He has difficulty in moving his right hand as there is a steel piece implanted in his hand after it broke. He did not have any enmity with these youths.” Her statement has put the CPI(M) on the defensive.
