Every news channel, every news paper, every single Twitter and Facebook account, all concentrated on the No-Confidence Motion moved against the BJP-led NDA. Memes abounded on Instagram and Twitter and Amul did not disappoint either. A marathon session of over 12 hours in the Parliament, where the results were taken for granted before the end of the session, was viewed keenly all over the country. While the session meant so much to so many people, I feel that some things stood out –
THE WORLD IS WATCHING: The alacrity, with which the French Government issued a statement in response to Rahul Gandhi’s accusation that the Hon. Defence Minister had lied about the ‘No Confidentiality’ clause, shows that super powers are watching us now more than ever. Some people may say that the Modi Government forced them to issue the statement, but I believe that every action of the Government is being watched keenly by the powerful countries and the big financial institutions. They know very well the extent of change that the Modi Government has brought out in Bharat and how it is helping us rise sharply to become a Super Power once more. While most Indians have taken these changes for granted now, the foreigners know exactly how important it is for Modi & BJP to win, to keep up the pace of reformation and reconstruction of our Country. And they are very vocal in voicing out their concerns about Rahul Gandhi’s capacity to lead Bharat.
THE YOUTH ARE WATCHING: Except in certain places, most Indian Urban youth are generally unaware and uninterested in Politics. But thanks to Rahul Gandhi and PM Modi, they have started showing an interest in at least understanding what the country stands to gain (or lose) if either of the two become the PM of our Nation. The viral exchange of memes on the actions of Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi, on youth platforms like Instagram, shows that even though they may not have understood everything that happened in the Session, they are watching it keenly.
CONGRESS WANTS THE HINDU VOTE: Once again Rahul Gandhi has reiterated that he is a Shiv Bhakt and that he has learnt about Hinduism thanks to NaMo and BJP. It may be a hollow statement, but the fact that it came after a Urdu daily claimed that he said that Congress was a party of Muslims, shows that the Hindu vote is still important for the Congress leader and his Party.
THE MAIN SHORTCOMING OF THE ENTIRE OPPOSITION IS EXPOSED: Leaders of TMC, TDP, TRS, RJD, SP, BSP – all want to be the next Prime Minister of the country and Leader of the Coalition Government. They all know that they need the Congress, but they are not convinced that Rahul Gandhi is PM material; they also don’t trust any other leader of any other party as PM material. It is obvious that as of today, not a single opposition party has any guidelines or plans set in place for the welfare of the Whole Nation. They can only either think of themselves or their own State, but NOT of the Country.
FAKE NEWS IS GOOD NEWS FOR THE LAZY MPs: We have come to a situation in this country where even in Parliament our representatives do not shy from quoting fake news from fake sources. Despite having access to Government Institutions, no member of the Opposition seems to be interested in doing their homework before casting allegations on the Government. While every MP wants to curtail the activities on Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp and the Social Media network, claiming that they are responsible for fake stories being circulated & riots and lynchings, they themselves seem to be okay with using such fake stories to malign the Government. Why not do more investigations on the Rafale deal, the surgical strikes, the bank loans given, etc. before accusing without any supporting paperwork? Laziness?
BLURRING LINE BETWEEN THE LOK SABHA & THE VIDHAN SABHA: The success of regional parties in sending MPs to the Parliament has resulted in a loss of vision, about the difference in the primary duties of the MPs and the MLAs. Today we have a situation where the MPs of a State want to hog the limelight by speaking only about the concerns of their State. The Lok Sabha is the place where the Nation takes precedence – it is the legislative body where laws are formed, matters pertaining to Defence, Finance, Infrastructure, Foreign Affairs, etc. are discussed and decided upon. States are required to give their inputs and together they are supposed to come to an understanding on matters of National Importance. Instead of that, farmer loans write-off by States, inter-State decisions, matters pertaining to one small part of a village being discussed, argued upon and then we have Opposition members staging a walk-out on these issues. No doubt these issues may be important, but there are other forums where these can be discussed. Important bills of National Interest like the Women’s Reservation Bill, Triple Talaaq, Fugitive Economic Offenders Ordinance, the Anti-Rape Bill – a total of 68 bills are yet to be passed. Of these 68 bills, 28 bills were introduced by the present NDA Government. That means that most of the pending bills are more than 4 years old. Imagine the loss to the Nation!
OPPOSITION = NOISE-MAKERS: There is nothing more insulting to the citizens of the country when they are deprived of hearing their Prime Minister speak, only because the Opposition thinks that shouting ridiculous slogans continuously and loudly, is their right. Only a seasoned orator like Narendra Modi could have continued with his speech yesterday. Noise Makers should be marshaled out and discipline should be observed in the highest institutions of the country.
The No-Confidence Motion initiated by the Opposition was easily won by the NDA Government, not just because they had the numbers, but because even the Opposition members know that PM Modi is thinking about the Nation more than any other Politician in recent years. A well deserved victory, for sure.
