Communism and violence go hand in hand. There are no two ways about it. You take violence out of Communism or Communists and allow ‘free speech’ to happen, even China will wriggle out of Communism in due course of time.
Historical facts point to such close association between the two, right from the beginning of the communist ideology in the world. Violence for a right cause or not, that is not discussed here. It’s about the inherent gene of ‘violence’ embedded in the very ideology of Communism. You just cannot separate the two.
The killing of two Youth Congress workers in Kerala has saddened many. The act has been condemned by many, too. It has been condemned by the leaders, including the Left leaders. (Yes, you read it right.) When the Left leaders condemn the act, they are in a way admitting the facts that (a) there are ‘CPM goons’ roaming around in the streets of Kerala and (b) they are nurturing a ‘Factory of Violence’ by giving ‘employment opportunities’ to the youth of Kerala for their parties’ sustenance.
The larger question is, can the Left parties sustain themselves anywhere in the country without resorting to violence? No. Bengal is a classic case. When the violence of the Left parties was decimated by the ‘brutal violence’ of another party, the Communist government fell down after being in power for 34 years. And the chances are remote in the coming general elections that they will be able to make a decent presence in that state.
The Left parties, who rule Kerala, are well aware of this hard truth. So, the crocodile tears being shed by Leftists in the state can at best be treated as a ‘sham’. Perhaps, they might be seeing this act of killing as an aberration, because, unfortunately, two ‘Youth Congress party workers’ were done to death. After all, CPI(M) and Congress are friends at the national level.
Therefore, being an open secret, I appeal to the CPI(M) leaders and leftist intellectuals to clear the confusion among the cadres of their parties. Let them just say it openly that: CPI(M) and Congress are ‘frenemies’ in the state but are real ‘friends’ in Bengal and at the national level. If the message goes down well, such unwanted instances of killing one’s own friends can be avoided in the future. Don’t I make sense?
While condemning this violence, I sincerely pray to Lord Ayyappa to guide the people of Kerala in taking the ‘right’ steps for their better future.
