Will Sabarimala verdict prove to be a Jallikkat moment?
Sree Raj Kaimal, a young devotee of Lord Ayyappa, has stated in his Facebook post that he would commit suicide at High Court Junction in Kochi on Monday. In a post that went viral, youth stated he would sacrifice his life for Lord Ayyappa and Hindu Dharma.
Meanwhile, the state witnessed several protests in different parts of the society. Hundreds of devotees took out a march in Palakkad to protest against the Supreme Court verdict on entry of women of all ages to Sabarimala. They shouted “Swami Saranam” and marched through the city. In several places, devotees have taken out protest march across the state.
In Tamil Nadu, Hindu Munnani decided to organise massive protests across the city and fight it out legally. Ayyappa devotees across the state are angry and livid over the verdict.
Meanwhile, Sabarimala Ayyappa Seva Sangam, an RSS-inspired organisation, has called for appointment of a special commission to study the Sabarimala issue in detail. It also asked the court to stay the implementation of the verdict till a final judgement is pronounced by the court. “Considering the unhappiness and sorrow of crores of devotees of Lord Ayyappa due to the unfortunate mention of the Hon’ble Supreme Court that Sabarimala is a public place and the deity is a non-living matter and has no fundamental rights, Sabarimala Ayyappa Seva Sangam has decided to take appropriate legal action and fight for justice and for preserving our rights and chalk out our future course of action along with other like-minded organisations,” said Swami Ayyappa Das, president of the Samajam.
