The Congress high command has chosen Kamal Nath as the chief minister for the Madhya Pradesh where it emerged as the single largest party after a nail-biting contest. There are also rumours that Jyotiraditya Scindia will be made deputy chief minister.
The Congress is a divided house with Jyotiraditya Scindia also emerging as a strong contender for the post of chief minster. It is learnt that Digvijaya Singh too preferred Kamal Nath over Scindia with whom he has a running feud.
Meanwhile fights have erupted in Gwalior and Bhopal where Congress workers staged demonstrations demanding Scindia to be made chief minister. Sources said the high command doesn’t want Scindia to outshine Rahul Gandhi, which makes Kamal Nath ideal choice for chief ministership from the high command’s perspective.
Meanwhile, the Congress legislative party is set to meet in the evening where the final of the high command will be announced. However, it won’t be an easy decision for the party which has been witnessing bitter factional feuds.
