Indus Scrolls National Photography awards were distributed on August 11 at a glittering ceremony held at Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi. V Muraleedharan, Rajya Sabha member, KG Suresh, DG, IIMC, Vinit Goenka, Member, BJP IT Cell, and Advaita Kala noted film script writer and author were present at the function.
Malayala Manorma Group Chief Photographer J Suresh’s Jallikkat was adjudged the best photograph. He wins cash award of Rs 25,000. Subin Pullazhy’s Pulikali won second prize which carries a cash award of Rs 15,000. The Third Prize was shared by two persons – Ashish Sharma, Deputy Photo Editor, Open Magazine, and Logesh Babu, a photographer based at Chennai. Vinod Atholi and Sreelas Paul were awarded ‘Honourable Mention’ by the jury. Vinayak Babu won Special Award in the student section.
Also launched at the occasion was an education project for girls, Kanya Vidya Scheme through which Indus Scrolls along with Sankalp Education Society will sponsor the education of girls from underprivileged families.
