The significance of ‘international youth day’ cannot be adequately stressed because youth act as the bridge between the old and new;the past and the future.
Unless the present trains the young generation into a robust force of dynamic, capable as well as virtuous power of society, decadence would set in.
Laziness and lethargy would add to gloom of poverty which is darkness itself reflected in deficit economic state. Even worser will be the poverty of thought.
As evidenced in a few corners of the globe, throughout annals of history, whenever the youth fall prey to unbridled pleasures – be it drug addiction, cuckoldry or otter heinous forms of crime, societies crumble;enemies overtake and occupy State by force but almost effortlessly.
Old order changeth and gives way to the new. Cultural traditions and values are forgotten ands new crop of vagabonds or goons are raised.
We in India fortunately have had a most sensible youth force throughout centuries of oppression and assault by greedy external forces. Even today, youth are the pride of India. With every passing generation, their verve and qualitative abilities appear to be enhanced.
In what way are we unique ?
The answer lies in our ecosystem.

Those staying behind on homeland do the nation proud. Many start-ups and enterprising ventures have fuelled the growth-engines of our economic process, collectively as one rich Indian nation.
But what ails our ecosystem that several educated youth still complain of unemployment and are not very happy with their earnings or lifestyle.
As alarming has the been tendency for school pass-outs to get enrolled in call-centres catering to foreign masters;get into accentuation training;work by nights and sleep during daytime;cultivate habits of ‘corporate lifestyle’ and stop trying to gain admission into professional courses like engineering, medicine, law,
Blinded by ‘easy-going’ lifestyles and unreal forms of reality of modern society, they succumb to peer pressure that is mainly orchestrated by marketing and advertising armies on payroll of an ‘agenda-driven’ consumer-society.
Why does the day gain extra importance in 2018? Prime Minister Modi has led by giving a clarion call to ‘exam warriors’ – school-going children as well as college-students and other youths residing in remote regions of the country who have agricultural pursuits or labour and skills as their pathway of labour and industry.
The present Government has augmented efforts to establish more and more schools, colleges as well as institutions of higher learning and excellence so that Indian youth are all literate in the coming decade.
Information campaigns have been launched to educate youth about ills of drug-abuse,alcoholism,tobacco-
Depression and disillusion are deadly monsters stalking our youths. This is also being countered by a strict enforcement of laws to punish wrong-doers in society and rewarding achievements.
Sports and Arts have been encouraging talented youths to surpass themselves. All in all,it is a most positive environment we have for the youth of today – who of course, are the future citizens of the world’s second most populous nation on the planet.
One only needs to view the several talent-shows on television and stage to be proud of the immense weightage of legacy of SwamiVivekananda,Netaji,
[ This piece is a humble dedication to all the youth of the present and to those whose spirit of youth is a never extinguishing flame of compassion, love and industriousness ].
Hail the Youth of India and the World!
