The Communists’ sense of history is laughable. Recently, CPI(M)’s state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said the freedom struggle by the Communists led to India’s independence. This hitherto unknown fact only known to the Communists triggered a laughter riot in the state. Prof MN Karassery, an independent intellectual, could not control his laughter at this claim. “I don’t about their role…but I know that for a decade they declared that India had not won freedom in 1947. They planned what is called the ‘Calcutta Thesis’ to launch armed struggle. They realized that India won Freedom after USSR chief Krushchev hugged Nehru in Delhi much later,” said Karassery. It is also a known fact that the Communists had torpedoed the Quit India Movement and supported the Muslim League’s Partition demand.
Now, another Communist leader, addressing a gathering of youths, has made a revelation. He said Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the youth wing of the CPI(M), was the creation of “Comrades such as Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and others”. His speech – the video of which has gone viral — goes like this: “We know that Comrade Bhagat Singh is one the courageous revolutionaries who had worked hard to strengthen the DYFI. He spent his youthful years for DYFI and when he saw gallows he proceeded with courage. Comrade Bhagat Singh attained martyrdom with courage. The slogans he raised are being put into practice by the state government… We know that the organization of youth DYFI was formed on November 3, 1980 at Ludhiana in Punjab. Comrade Bhagat Singh and Comrade Sukhdev took the lead in the formation of DYFI.”
