GREEN LASER ON RAHUL’S HEAD: Congress alleges ‘security breach’, SPG says it is from mobile

NEW DELHI: In a letter addressed to the ministry of home affairs, the Congress on Thursday alleged serious security breach in party president’s security cover. Congress said there is a threat to Rahul Gandhi’s life in Amethi. The allegation was based on the incident where green laser light from an unknown source hit the party president.

The Congress claimed that green laser, possibly from a sniper gun, was pointed at Rahul Gandhi’s head, during a media interaction in Amethi on Wednesday. “A perusal of the video by various persons including former security personnel leads to a prima facie conclusion that this laser could emanate from a potential weapon such as a sniper gun,” the letter continues.

As soon as the MHA’s attention was drawn to reports of the incident, the director (SPG) was asked to verify factual position who informed the MHA that the ‘green light’ shown in the clipping was found to be that of a mobile phone used by AICC photographer, who was video graphing the press interaction of Rahul Gandhi near the collectorate in Amethi.
