Huge turnout of women worries Commies
Continued high turnout of women devotees, especially girls, at Ayyappa Bhakta Sangamam on January 20 (Sunday) has left Communists worried. The government and the CPI(M) had tried every trick in the trade to prevent the participation of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. The CPI(M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan made a banal comment that has mother’s brahmacharya lost even after meeting men and women of all ages. But Kodiyeri is known for spewing banalities.
State Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran personally met Mata Amrithanandamayi, popularly known as Amma, and requested her not to take part in the meeting.
This is the first time in recent years that she participates in a function other than the Mata Amrithanandamayi Muth. After she took part in the meeting, the Cyber Commies (trolls) have swung into action and started a campaign against Amma.
The Marxists have always targeted Amma and her ashram. When a disgruntled foreign woman devotee of Amma Gail Tredwell authored a book alleging sexual abuse she faced at the Ashram, former Managing Editor and current advisor to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan went all the way to New York to interview the author. The whole exercise turned out to be a damp squib and the party had to suffer heavy losses in the area. Brittas never showed any enthusiasm when the Church was plagued by similar controversies. He once infamously said Hinduism is a byproduct of Christianity.
