CPI(M) goons continue to target BJP and RSS workers in Kerala. The police continue to arrest workers of BJP/RSS indiscriminately and charging stringent and non-bailable sections. The recent round of violence triggered by the CPI(M)-led government’s bid to violate the traditions of Sabarimala. The way the government using CPI(M) cadre in the police force stealthily took two women Maoists to the temple has hurt the sentiments of thousands of devotees. Adding salt to the injury, state Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan taunted the devotees who staged protest march by referring to a fake news report that another young woman had entered Sabarimala.
Left propaganda outlets such as The Wire, The Indian Express, headed by a Marxist journalist, and TOI carried the fake news item, though the woman herself and the intelligence agency dismissed the CM’s claim. After he was exposed by some TV channels, the CM backtracked and said he doesn’t have the exact count of women who visited Sabarimala in a Press Conference.
When the devotees kept on defeating the government attempts through peaceful and non-violent means, the Pinarayi Vijayan government ‘smuggling in’ two Maoist anarchists, who are also atheists, to the temple during the wee hours of January 2, the next day after the CPM’s much boasted but broken Women Wall. Both Kanakadurga and Bindu had made a futile attempt to enter the temple few months back. Afterwards, it is reproted that, they were accommodated in Coorg where the wife of the Pathanamthitta SP’s wife serves as the District Collector. Then they were broght to Kottaam where they lived in pollice guest house; and, they were brought to Pampa in a private vehicle, again the blatant violation of the police regulation. No private vehicles are permitted beyond Nilakkal. From there, every devotee had to catch Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to Pampa. The way the Superintendent of Police (SP) Yathish Chandra IPS behaved in a disrespectful manner had hit the headlines and now it is before the LS Privilege Committee. It was regarding the private vehicle movement towards Pampa. But, these activists women had no problem. Reports suggest, they came from Kottayam to Pampa with the police escort, in male attire, and were taken in an ambulance from Pampa to the temple and back. Police ignore the fact that these “devotees’ belonged to outlawed Maoist group. They were even accommodated in CPM party villages in Kannur district.
As soon as the news of the young women’s temple entry spread, peaceful agitations in the form of namajapa took place throughout the state. CPI(M) workers pelted and attacked the Sabarimala Karma Samiti and BJP/RSS workers in front of the state secretariat. The police did not stop them. But, used water cannon, tear gas shell and grenade against the devotees. One shell fell near the BJP satyagraha pandal where party vice-president Sivarajan was on hunger strike in connection with the Sabarimala issue. He suffered a breathing problem. The CPM attack continued for a long time.
Devotees were attacked in Pandalam while carrying out a peaceful namajapa protest. CPI(M) goons threw concrete blocks to the march from their offices upstairs and it broke skull of Chandran Unnithan, a devotee. The block broke his skull and he died the next day. But, CM Pinarayi Vijayan declared that Unithan died of heart attack. But, the post mortem report spoke the truth pushing the CM to an awkward position.
Four RSS/BJP workers were stabbed in different districts on the hartal day. This time CPI(M) and Islamic fundamentalist groups like SDPI and PFI are hand-in-glove. CPI(M) uses these forces to attack RSS/BJP men and devotees. Police play its role cleverly. In Perumbaoor, Renu Suresh, the state BJP secretary, was beaten at her head by the DyS of Police with the lathi and she suffered internal bleeding. She is under treatment in Amrutha Institute of Medical Sciences. She was leading a women devotee procession against the state-sponsored violation of traditions in Shabarimala.
Next day, January 4, Sabarimala Karma Samiti called for a Kerala hartal. The people of the state co-operated with it whole-heartedly. In Kochi, 14 workers, were arrested on January 3 and put in custody, including 8 women, Three of them C.V. Sajani, Adv. Sindhumol and Rema Panicker were arrested when they protested in front of a Maoist programme organised to celebrate the violation of traditions by Bindu and Kanakadurga in Sabarimala. The Karma Samiti girls protested when the Maoists were distributing sweets.
BJP/Yuva Mocha workers were attacked by the policemen in Thrissur when they waved black flags against Dewawom minister Kadakampalli Surendran. After a couple of days Adv. Nivedita, state secretary of Mahila Morcha, was arrested and remanded.
CPI(M) and SDPI men hurled bombs at the houses of BJP leaders throughout Kannur district. Seva Bharati’s ambulance was wrecked. BJP offices were attacked in several placed in Kannur.
RSS Vibhaga Sanghchalak and octogenarian Chandrasekharan’s house was attacked and he was manhandled hence hospitalised. He is the senior most RSS leader in the whole Malabar area. RSS sees it as an attempt to assassinate him. His household items were vandalised and thrown into a nearby well. The ancestral house of V. Muraleedharan, MP, former BJP state president, was bombed. National executive member PK Krishna Das’s house was bombed. An RSS karyalaya was torched in the same district.
In Kasaragod, there was an attempt to kill BJP leader P Ganaesh. The hooligans placed a wreath in the house of VHP leader K. Jayakumar.
In Kozhikode, CPI(M)-SDPI goons attacked several shops when the owners closed them in solidarity with the call for hartal. Houses of several BJP/RSS leaders were attacked. In Thiruvananthapuram district, widespread attacks are unleashed against Sangh Parivar men and their houses and business centres. In North Parur, Ernakulam district, several attacks have taken place against the Karma Samiti workers.
Sangh Parivar leaders, as well as the entire Keralites, believe that CIP(M) and its leaders are disappointed with the broken Women’s Wall. They are disappointed because their efforts to facilitate the anarchist women’s temple entry turn fruitless. All are due to the relentless efforts and leadership of Sangh Parivar organisations. Now they do not know what to do. The only job they do is to attack and kill.
