Leaders of the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front government in Kerala is alleged to have been making all efforts to save arrested child molester Moideen Kutty, who is a CPI(M) member and financier for the party. After a series of questioning him and his relatives, the police have arrested whistleblower EC Satheeshan and released on a bail. The police continue to harass Satheeshan in whose theatre Kutty molested nine-year-old girl and her mother.

The police arrested Satheeshan for alleged delay in informing the police. According to sources, the police have invoked stringent laws including POCSO against the whistleblower. EC Girish, a relative of Satheeshan, told Indus Scrolls that though the theatre owners informed the police in time, the police refused to take action. “Then they approached Child Welfare board members. Yet the police did not take action. When they found that the police were not keen on taking action, the footage was leaked to the media,” said a source close to the Child Welfare body.
The action against the whistleblower has triggered a huge controversy with BJP and Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi staging protest marches in Edappal where the theatre is situated.
