Out of the ten people from a family in Kannur who joined Islamic State, four have died in combat in Syria, says a report in Mathrubhumi.
According to the police, TV Shameer, Anwar their wives and children had left India last year. Shameer and Anwar were activists of Islamist outfit Popular Front of India. Shameer and his wife were the first to leave the country. They reached Syria through Iran.
The four persons killed were Shameer, Anwar and children of Shameer Safwan and Salman. The fate of their widows is not known. According to Sharia imposed by IS, a widow cannot live alone. They are given two options: become a wife of a jihadi or become a sex slave.
About 35 youths from Kannur have left to join the dreaded Islamic State.
